In 2025, the WHO's Commission on Social Connection launched its first flagship report, recognizing loneliness as a global public health concern. Environmental factors shape the experiences of loneliness, which in turn may amplify the pace of anthropogenic climate change. In this research seminar, we aim to develop own research projects to facilitate social connection, resilience, and human flourishing in an increasingly unpredictable and socially disconnected world. The first part of the seminar will involve establishing common ground in this emerging field at the intersection of social connection, loneliness, and climate change, involving group excursions, flash-talks, and a focus on innovation and creativity. The second part will delve into the methods and aspects of feasibility to turn an innovative idea into a promising research project. English-proficient Master students and advanced Bachelor students from all disciplines are invited to enroll.
