Planetary Exploration & Space Robotics – Practical Rover Development for Extraterrestrial Missions
Setra Yoman Prahyang, Technische Universität Berlin, Luft- und Raumfahrt
Inhalte/ Contents
This interdisciplinary course engages students in the practical development of a modular planetary rover and small aerial drone for space exploration. Participants work on mechanical, electrical and software subsystems, extraterrestrial mission such as exploration, sampling, object manipulation and scientific mission. The project follows an iterative process of design, rapid prototyping, subsystem integration and field validation under simulated environment, providing hands-on experience across the complete development lifecycle. It is open to Bachelor’s and Master’s students in aerospace, robotics, software, mechanical/electrical engineering, or related STEM disciplines. Basic engineering knowledge is required, and prior experience with CAD, programming, hardware prototyping, or other projects is advantageous. Active contributors may gain the opportunity to represent the team in annual rover challenge, offering a unique bridge between academic learning and real-world challenges.
