Feminist Perspectives on Chinese Philosophy

Inhalte/ Contents
This X-Student Research Group is exploring feminist perspectives on Chinese philosophy. The group’s overarching research question is how these perspectives can challenge, reinterpret and enrich key texts and concepts in this field. First, we will familiarise ourselves with a selection of feminist methodologies and consider how they can be applied to the study of Chinese philosophy. Depending on their interests, students will then analyse the biographies and impact of women philosophers from the history of Chinese philosophy in depth. By identifying and researching the work of understudied women philosophers, participants can contribute to expanding the canon and giving a voice to those who have traditionally been marginalised. This research project is suitable for both advanced Bachelor’s and Master’s students. While previous engagement with Chinese philosophy and language is welcome, it is not essential.
