Feminist Perspectives on Chinese Philosophy (II)

Andreas Kerschbaum, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, Philosophie

Inhalte/ Contents

This X-Student Research Group is exploring feminist perspectives on Chinese philosophy. Building on last semester’s course, which introduced and applied selected feminist methodologies to the study of Chinese philosophy, the group welcomes both returning and new participants. This semester, students will focus on reconstructing and analysing the arguments of influential women thinkers from across the history of Chinese philosophy. Participants will collaborate in small groups to discuss philosophical questions that reflect their individual interests. By identifying and investigating the contributions of understudied women philosophers, students will help broaden the philosophical canon and bring greater visibility to voices that have historically often been overlooked. The research project is suitable for advanced Bachelor’s and Master’s students. While prior experience with Chinese philosophy or knowledge of the Chinese language is welcome, neither is required.
