Train-the-Trainer Research Data Management Workshop

22.04.2026 - 23.04.2026

Competence in handling research data is a key prerequisite for modern science: without good documentation and sustainability, there can be no FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) data.

Trained trainers are needed to impart these skills to researchers in many disciplines and institutions within the Berlin University Alliance. The Collaboratively Advancing Research Data Support (CARDS) project is therefore offering a Train-the-Trainer workshop on research data management with Dr. Katarzyna Biernacka in April 2026. After the two-day workshop, participants will have the necessary skills to conduct their own training and consulting on research data management at their institutions.

Working language: German.

When? On April 22 and 23, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day.

Where? In person at the Rostlaube building at Freie Universität Berlin.

Content? On the one hand, the workshop will cover topics related to research data management (e.g., life cycle, data management plans, documentation, storage, backup, long-term archiving, and the publication of research data as open data); on the other hand, it will teach didactic principles and methods. The theoretical content will be supplemented by practical exercises.

Who can participate? All researchers at Freie Universität, Humboldt-Universität, Technische Universität, and Charité Universitätsmedizin who would like to offer FDM training at their institution in the future are welcome to participate in the free workshop. No prior knowledge of the subject matter is required.
