As part of Berlin Science Week, the Einstein Foundation Berlin, the Berlin Center for Global Engagement and the Center for Open and Responsible Research, both part of the Berlin University Alliance, organize an open dialogue on the topic:
Can Science Remain Open in an Authoritarian World?
on the afternoon of November 6, 2026, as part of the Berlin Science Week at Haus der Kulturen der Welt in Berlin.
The dialogue seeks to explore — together with the audience — what is at stake when research closes its doors, and whether the transformative benefits of open science can still be safe-guarded. The discussion will be moderated by Dr. Sakine Weikert, Head of the Centre for International Academic Cooperation (KIWi) at the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). Speakers are Dr. Kamran Naim, Head of Open Science at CERN and Prof. Andrea Fleschenberg dos Ramos Pinéu, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin; co2libri and Hidden Research.
