Advancing Research Quality and Value

What is good research? How can the quality of research and its results be assessed and ensured in a sustainable manner?

For the Berlin University Alliance, research quality is both an institutional goal and a field of research. The four partner institutions are pursuing a joint strategy to strengthen the value, quality, integrity, and credibility of research.

With the current Shaping Research Culture call for proposals, projects aimed at further developing the research culture within the BUA will be funded starting in April 2027. All information on the call for proposals and the application process can be found here.

Center for Open and Responsible Research (CORe)

CORe bundles the different scientific and professional expertise of the partner institutions and supports them in developing and consolidating a shared understanding of values, taking into account their specific research cultures.

One of the central goals of the Berlin University Alliance is to promote and intensify open science practices. This is how the excellence alliance responds to current developments in science policy and scientific practice.

CoARA@BUA

The Berlin University Alliance is part of the international Coalition for Advancing Research Assessment and supports its goal of reforming the methods and processes for evaluating research, research organizations, and researchers.

Monitoring: Berlin Science Survey

The progress made by the partner institutions towards an integrated research environment is made transparent and visible. To this end, targeted information is gathered, data collected, indicators developed and monitored over time.
