The Call for Exploration Projects within the Grand Challenge Initiative Global Health explicitly supports high-risk projects undertaking novel approaches. At the same time, the funded Exploration Project should be able to develop long-term research projects or funding structures. Therefore, it should be demonstrated in each case what potential the novel approach of the project has for a permanent anchoring in the research landscape in Berlin. The initial focus should be on the three years of project funding including options for follow-up funding.
