Research Description

My research focuses on the development and implementation of digital twins in the field of production engineering.

Where in the world has your career been largely based until now?

My professional and scientific career has been based in Poland.

Why Berlin?

I chose Berlin because TU Berlin conducts research in the field of applying information technology tools in production engineering, particularly focusing on model-based systems engineering and digital twins.

What fascinates you about your research area?

What fascinates me the most is the possibility of knowledge transfer between industry and academia.

How will your research change the world?

I believe that my research will improve human efficiency and have a positive impact on a sustainable way of living.

What major short-term goal are you currently working towards with your research?

I want to build a functional digital twin so that I can study its behavior.

How did you become interested in your specific topic?

I came to this point because, although I am a mechanical engineer by education, I have always been fascinated by sophisticated information systems.

What is your preferred way to communicate your research to the broader public or other specific sectors beyond academia? Where can we see, hear or read you next?

I usually publish articles, books, and scientific expert reports, but I also conduct training sessions and workshops.

What did you want to be when you grow up?

A professor.

If you could have a radical career change for a week, what would it be?

A professional actor.

Rumour has it that nobody is perfect. Which skill or ability have you really had to work on in your career (or are you perhaps still working on)?

Sometimes I pursue my goals too stubbornly and pay little attention to obstacles.

What is something surprising that people might not know about you?

As a hobby, I engage in music mixing.

What were some challenging or discouraging moments in your career?

I made the decision to change jobs just before the outbreak of the pandemic, and afterward, I was unable to find a new one for several months.

Is there anyone else in the Berlin-Brandenburg area that you would love to collaborate with?

Unfortunately, I don’t know many people here apart from those at the department where I am staying.

What would be the greatest professional achievement you could ever aspire to?

I would like to become a tenured professor.

How does the academic culture in Berlin differ from the academic culture you are used to?

It’s hard to describe, but many things here seem to progress more easily and quickly. This is probably due to the local work culture and the support from the people who work here.

Has Berlin had any surprises in store for you?

Yes, I think it’s a magical city. I didn’t expect such great diversity and so many places by the water. The number of different restaurants also surprised me.

What would your advice be for colleagues at home interested in a research stay in Berlin?

I would advise them to spend some time here, gain valuable scientific experience, and enjoy unforgettable moments in this extraordinary city.
