With its new funding program “Shaping Research Culture,” Berlin University Alliance (BUA) supports practice-oriented projects on Open Science and Responsible Research Assessment. Interdisciplinary collaborations and partnerships with central institutions, libraries, data centers, research services, administration, and research management are particularly encouraged. Collaborations with non-university institutions are also possible. The first of a total of three funding rounds is open to professors, postdocs, and experts from research support units at BUA partner institutions. Applications may be submitted through January 15, 2027.

The “Shaping Research Culture” call focuses on proven and transferable solutions that can be scaled within BUA. If evaluated positively, the selected projects will receive funding for two years.

Projects may, for example, develop fair, transparent, diversity-sensitive, and quality-oriented evaluation processes and tools; devise measures and incentives to further embed Open Science; or examine the interactions between institutional frameworks, career paths, incentives, and scholarly practice.

Through this funding line, Berlin University Alliance is building a portfolio of research, development, and implementation projects that further strengthen integrity, openness, transparency, collegiality, cooperation, equal opportunity, and diversity within the excellence alliance.
