The Anglo-German Research Funding Opportunities Showcase provided a comprehensive overview of key funding mechanisms and pathways available to researchers at different career stages seeking to strengthen cross-border collaboration. The programme encompassed presentations from leading funding organisations on both sides of the Channel, followed by an informal Q&A session and networking reception.
Representatives from the following organisations presented their funding offers:
- Alexander von Humboldt Foundation (Monika Lieb, Head of Section Europe, Department of Sponsorship and Network – via videolink from Bonn)
- Royal Society (Ryan Ahmed, Senior Manager International Grants)
- University of Oxford (Professor Carolin Duttlinger, Chair of the Theodor Heuss Research Fellowship and Hanseatic Scholarship Committee and Matthew Carr, Research Funding Manager)
- Royal Academy of Engineering (Shane McHugh, Associate Director Engineering Diplomacy)
- Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (Dorothea Fendel, Programme Officer International Affairs; Theresa Henn, International Affairs; Jörn Achterberg, Programme Director International Affairs)
The event was attended by researchers of all career levels, who praised the practical insights and direct access to funding experts. The Oxford Berlin Research Partnership will continue to support and facilitate such initiatives to strengthen research ties between the two cities.
