Afterlives of Empire – Encounters in Art and Academia Goes to Oxford
Afterlives of Empire – Encounters in Art and Academia was a year-long programme funded by the Humboldt Universitäts-Gesellschaft and organised by Gesa Stedman which had Oxford and Berlin art students working together for a month with a focus on academic collections in Berlin.
News from Aug 11, 2025
Following this successful cooperation between Oxford and Berlin, a return visit to Oxford is planned for early October 2025, funded with a BUA Oxford-Berlin grant. This short visit will allow a small group of Berlin art students and artists to work at the Pitt Rivers and Ashmolean Museums, meet with Oxford art students from the Ruskin School of Art, and plan an exhibition in Berlin for 2026. The idea is also to hold a workshop for the general public and another small printed catalogue will also be produced for this second iteration of the project.
