Six PhD candidates and one Master's student from the University of Oxford traveled to Berlin for interdisciplinary conference, which took place on July 26 and 27, 2023 at the Institute for Latin American Studies of Freie Universität Berlin, to discuss current topics in Latin American Studies with the participants from Berlin as well as various external guests and the audience. During the two-day conference, all participants were able to present their Master's and PhD projects from different disciplines, engaging intensively with the group's research, and receiving valuable feedback. Participants explored the institutional history of Latin American studies in Germany and the UK, and critically examined the intersections of scholarship, art, and activism with guests Marcela Torres (University of Vienna), Mirjana Mitrovic (Berlin University of the Arts), and Beatriz Rodríguez Flores (Berlin University of the Arts). Between panels, there was also ample time for discussion and networking, sharing ideas and perspectives with colleagues from Oxford. The conference was held in hybrid format to allow virtual participation for all students who could not be on site.
