University of Melbourne and Berlin University Alliance enable Joint Doctoral Degrees

News from Oct 14, 2021

The Berlin University Alliance calls for proposals for funding for the joint supervision of doctoral projects, including doctoral scholarships, travel grants, and a supervision allowance, as part of the Grand Challenge Initiative on Global Health together with its strategic partner, the University of Melbourne. Application deadline is February 15, 2022.

"Global Health" focuses on research and application areas that aim to improve the health of all people worldwide. The aim is to eliminate existing inequalities so that all people can live healthy lives. Questions and challenges in the field of "Global Health" affect not only the health sciences but also many other research areas such as law, environmental protection, natural and social sciences, as well as politics, religion, philosophy, material sciences, engineering, and communication sciences.

Researchers from the four partner institutions – Freie Universität Berlin, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, Technische Universität Berlin, and Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin – are eligible to apply in “Call for Joint PhD Projects – Grand Challenge Initiative Global Health“. Together with a partner from Melbourne, they will be responsible for supervising two doctoral candidates. Doctoral candidates are enrolled at both institutions and complete their research project with a joint degree. The candidates funded will spend one year of their doctoral studies at the partner institution.
