BUA Course Formats: Information for Students

Welcome to the Berlin University Alliance’s website on innovative course formats for students.

Want to discover new topics and perspectives? Or how about a curriculum tailored specifically to your interests? Are you interested in gaining research experience and cooperating with other students on innovative, one-of-a-kind projects?

As a BUA student you can attend selected courses offered by any of the four institutions within the university alliance. You will typically be able to have your coursework recognized as an elective within your degree program.

If you have any questions about the courses on offer, registration, or recognition of courses you can get in touch with the BUA Office for Teaching and Learning at your university.

Student Research Opportunities Programx (StuROPx)

StuROPX is the Berlin University Alliance’s main program designed to bridge the gap between teaching and research. It opens up opportunities for students to participate in research projects being carried out in Berlin right now.

BUA Modules

BUA Modules bring students from different departments and institutions together in one interdisciplinary learning environment. Students can take modules from five different intellectually stimulating subject areas.

BUA Certificate Programs

BUA Certificate Programs are interdisciplinary course formats that allow students of all disciplines to set special focal points. In addition to valuable additional qualifications, students can earn 15-30 credit points.

BUA Joint Degree Programs strive to address societal challenges of global importance. The courses on offer are interdisciplinary, research-based, and international in their scope.
