Leadership skills are vital for postdocs who are or will be in charge of leading research groups and projects in the future. Understanding what makes leadership effective helps, for example, to manage diverse teams, foster motivation, and deal with conflicts. Learning about leadership can help manage current work situations more effectively and contribute to professional growth and advancement in academia.
Content
Participants have a basic understanding of leadership concepts. They also have an idea about how and when to apply certain leadership behaviors to specific job situations in academia. The goal of this course is to familiarize postdoctoral researchers with the concept and tools of leadership. What works and what does not can be studied scientifically. Thus, the ideas and recommendations provided in this course are based on research.
