1st DiGENet Symposium „Lehre entgrenzen/Unbounding Teaching“ 26 May 2026

With the symposium “Lehre entgrenzen/Unbounding Teaching: Perspectives, Ideas, Impulses,” the Diversity & Gender Equality Network (DiGENet) invites participants to engage in a shared discussion on current questions of inclusive and diversity-sensitive higher education teaching. At its core is the question of how teaching can be designed to more fully incorporate diverse perspectives, educational trajectories, and social realities, thereby gaining in quality, relevance, and openness. The event is aimed at faculty, students, and other members of the academic community from all BUA partner institutions as well as other Berlin universities who are interested in advancing teaching at the intersection of excellence, diversity, and participation.

The symposium will take place on May 26, 2026, at Freie Universität Berlin and will feature a varied program including a keynote, short workshops, poster presentations, a gallery walk, and a closing dialogue. As part of the “Marketplace of Possibilities,” selected participants will be introduced to concrete teaching approaches, established formats, student projects, and innovative ideas that demonstrate how gender and diversity perspectives can be productively integrated into higher education teaching. The thematically diverse short workshops offer insights into current concepts, practical experiences, and further reflections on university teaching, while the poster presentations broaden the picture with additional examples and perspectives from across the BUA network and beyond. In this way, the event offers a focused overview of current approaches to diversity- and gender-reflective teaching and is intended for all those who wish to engage more deeply with questions of curricular openness, participation, and the further development of university teaching.

The event will be held in German and English. The keynote and closing dialogue will also be available online. Registration is requested.
