Diversity and Gender Equality

The Berlin University Alliance develops and implements a systematic strategy to promote diversity and diversity studies among all partner institutions.

In the long term, the cross-cutting theme aims to expand the leading position of the partner institutions in the area of equal opportunities, to increasingly promote diversity, and to establish sustainable, diversity-related, and internationally competitive standards within the alliance.

Diversity and Gender Equality Network (DiGENet)

DiGENet bundles the expertise of the partner institutions and the institutions not affiliated with academia on diversity and gender equality. In the long term, it aims to create a cultural shift toward a more diverse and gender-sensitive research environment. The research and competence network offers interested researchers from Berlin a platform for intensive and interdisciplinary knowledge exchange.

Audre Lorde-Visiting Professorship for Intersectional Diversity Studies

The Visiting Professorship is named after the Caribbean-American writer, library scientist, and English professor Audre Lorde. It stands for contemporary, future-oriented diversity studies. Its aim is to make this research visible and open it up to a broader debate. It is intended to diversely shape Berlin as a research hub on par with the reality of urban society.

ProFiL Program

“ProFiL” stands for Professionalisierung für Frauen in Forschung und Lehre (professionalization for women in research and teaching). The program combines three proven methods of promoting young talent: Mentoring, science-specific training and seminars, and strategic networking. The target groups are habilitated female scientists, post-doctoral researchers, junior professors, heads of junior research groups, and postdocs who aspire to a professorship.
