Goal

This program helps participants improve the quality, speed, and sustainability of their decisions, thereby developing a confident approach to situations marked by uncertainty and complexity.

Contents

Decisions—whether made or postponed—affect teaching, research, (project) management, employees and teams, higher-level units, the academic system as a whole, and the university as an organization; they play a major role in positioning oneself visibly and proactively within that system. This program equips leaders with competencies that are then applied to their typical decision-making contexts in the university setting.

Drawing on specific methods, for example from psychology, you will learn to recognize perceptual biases in decision situations and to deal with them constructively and successfully. You will also have an opportunity to reflect on your own decision-making behavior. The program helps you cultivate decisiveness and, with renewed clarity, identify and prioritize the necessary and potential fields for decision making while strategically planning decision processes.

Individual Coaching

For many challenges, peer exchange within a group is the ideal setting. Some issues, however, are highly individual and are better addressed one-on-one.

Within the flagship program, participants therefore have the option to take advantage of individual coaching.

Target Audience

The program is aimed primarily at individuals who hold leadership responsibilities directly within the alliance or in Alliance-funded projects (e.g., members of the Alliance’s governing bodies, heads of excellence xlusters, collaborative research centers, and other joint initiatives). In addition, any professor within the Alliance may enroll in the program.
