Grief and Society!
Anna Lehmann, Lea Leusing, Freie Universität Berlin, Philosophie (WE 1)
Inhalte/ Contents
The X-Tutorial explores the relationship between grief and society, aiming to inquire the (transformative) potential of grief. The first semester critically situates grief within a neoliberal system: How do neoliberal structures shape the lived experience of grief? What role do processes of individualization, psychologization and pathologization play? A focus will be on mourning practices and actions that emerge from experiences of grief. The research follows an interdisciplinary approach and encourages experimentation with creative (e.g. (audio)visual) research methods. We aim to create space for subjectivity and to dehierarchize research practices. The project welcomes bachelor’s and master’s students from medicine, psychology, philosophy, anthropology, social and political sciences, as well as creative disciplines such as visual arts. Participation in only one (out of two) semesters is possible. Results will be presented in an exhibition.
