Youth, Peace and Security – Rezeption der Reden der Jugenddelegierten in der Rechtsetzung des VN-Sicherheitsrats

Leiterin und Leiter: Dr. Hannah Birkenkötter, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin; Julian Hettihewa, Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn; Felix Schott, Freie Universität Berlin; Institutionelle Anbidung der X-Student Research Group: Fachbereich Rechtswissenschaft, Freie Universität Berlin

According to the current state of research, it is not sufficiently clear whether the United Nations (UN) Youth Delegate Program is a mere end in itself or whether it actually offers young people the opportunity to initiate norm-changing processes at the level of international law. The research group therefore wants to answer the question whether or how the speeches of the youth delegates to the UN General Assembly (youth delegates) have been received in the legislation of the UN Security Council. This will be examined on the basis of Resolution 2250 - the first thematic resolution linking youth, peace and security. For this purpose, all speeches of the youth delegates will be compiled for the first time. The project aims to promote exchange and learning across academic boundaries and is open to students from different disciplines (for example, law, political and social sciences, but also linguistics and computer science) and semesters.
