Open science encompasses inclusive and transdisciplinary approaches, enables open access to research results and processes, and thus promotes transparency, verifiability, and sustainability. Implementing open science practices in everyday research requires subject-specific, low-threshold solutions and support. This is where our program “Ambassadors for Open Science” comes in, which was launched as a pilot project in 2024. As experts and enthusiasts at their institutions, the ambassadors show researchers, students, and decision-makers how they can benefit from open science and get involved.
The ambassadors will be active in their faculties, departments, central institutions, and clusters of excellence from August 1 to July 31, contributing to subject-specific discussions on open science in various formats. Through their commitment, the experts also contribute to the implementation of the mission statement for open science at the BUA. Please feel free to contact the ambassadors at your faculty or department or, if there is no direct contact person in your area yet, those at your university.
The ambassadors have been officially confirmed by the dean's offices and governing bodies and recognized for their commitment. The new BUA-wide network of ambassadors is supported by the Center for Open and Responsible Research with event funding, training, and preferential access to the BUA Research Quality & Open Science Fellowship Program. The next call for applications is planned for March 2026. If you would like to become an ambassador at your institution, either as an individual or as part of a team, please feel free to contact us in advance (Contact).
On this page, you will find the contact details for the ambassadors at the participating institutions.
