The Berlin University Alliance is looking for motivated Open Science Ambassadors!

Are you an Open Science enthusiast who wants to help their colleagues to implement Open Science practices into their research routine? Do you want to organize events with speakers that inspire you and your colleagues? Get involved and become an Open Science Ambassador at your faculty!

If you are a researcher with first experiences in Open Science practices and want to participate in the implementation of Open Science in your community for one year, apply by sending us a short letter of motivation. As Open Science Ambassador, you will not be alone: The team and network of the Center for Open and Responsible Research will be available anytime for questions and access to trainings and networking events.

Open Science is an extensive complex of issues ranging from transdisciplinary approaches to accessible and transparent research data to reusable and reproducible results… all of this needs discipline-specific and accessible solutions to be implemented into everyday research routines. Show the researchers, students and stakeholders at your institution how they can benefit from and engage in Open Science! Be part of a network of ambassadors who collaborate with us to translate Open Science into practice!

In a letter of motivation (one page max.), let us know: What was the original booster that go you interested in Open Science? Send your letter, accompanied by a CV, until June 3rd 2024 to core@berlin-university-alliance.de. You can also consider applying as a small team. The program will start August 1st 2024.

What will I do as an Open Science Ambassador?

  • Train Your Peers! You organize your own events on Open Science issues in addition to a regular office hour or a similar format.
  • Connect! You become part of a BUA-wide network for exchange on Open Science practices and their implementation, and actively motivate your peers to engage in this network.
  • Share Your Experiences! You report on your activities and experiences in a format of your choice (e.g., via a website, blog posts or a public report).

Why should I become an Open Science Ambassador?

  • You participate in networking events and trainings, tailored to your needs by the Center for Open and Responsible Research of the BUA.
  • You receive funding of 4000€ for the organization of your own events (per faculty for one year).
  • You are formally acknowledged and visible at your faculty as an expert for Open Science.
  • As an ambassador you participate in the implementation of the mission statement for Open Science of the BUA.

What are the requirements?

  • You are a doctoral, postdoctoral or professorial researcher at a BUA member institution with a contract until at least December 31st 2025.
  • Ideally, you have first experiences in the area of Open Science (e.g., Open Access publication, research data management, transdisciplinary research, Open Software).
