Postdocs at Risk
The Postdoc Academy offers a new program for researchers at risk, designed to support career reflection and planning within and beyond academia. The three-part workshops begins in June with an introductory workshop to explore career options and identify next steps. It continues in with a second workshop consisting of five hands-on sessions on navigating career uncertainty and mastering the process of job application. The series concludes in September with a workshop dedicated to job applications, including optional individual CV feedback.
Workshops can be attended individually, but full participation is encouraged for maximum benefit.
Postdocs currently affiliated with with any of the four Berlin University Alliance universities are eligible to participate. Former postdocs from these institutions are also welcome, as they are considered part of our alumni network.

Workshop I
Leaving or Staying? Exploring Career Options and Support for Researchers at Risk

Leaving or staying in academia? This 2,5-hours interactive online workshop offers researchers at risk a structured space to reflect on career options, assess realistic academic trajectories, and explore alternative paths. Through expert input, peer exchange, and guided reflection, participants will navigate key challenges, identify resources, and develop concrete next steps for a sustainable professional future. The workshop is a great foundation for the in-depth workshop series for developing a career outside of academia – either as primary option or as a plan B.

Navigating Career Uncertainty: A Workshop Series for Researchers at Risk

Are you considering career options beyond academia or facing an unexpected transition? This five-week workshop series is designed to support researchers at risk in gaining clarity, identifying strengths, and building a career that aligns with their values. Through hands-on exercises, peer support, and expert guidance, you’ll learn how to explore new career paths, craft compelling applications, and take concrete steps toward your next opportunity.
