The Berlin Center for Global Engagement (BCGE) regularly organizes training sessions on scientific cooperation with the Global South, academic freedom and scientific diplomacy.

Global Equity in Open Scholarly Communication, July 5-6, 2021 each day 09:00 am-12:30 pm, online

This course provides access to information about equitable approaches to scholarly publishing in international research groups and consortia, especially those comprising partners from countries in Global South.

Research Collaboration with Partners in the “Global South” – Opportunities and Best Practices, November 18-19, 2021 each day 09:00 am-12:30 pm, online

This course provides a platform for exchange of experiences on how to circumvent and work through issues such as poor internet connectivity, political instability and discrepancies in research capacity. Participants will gain a more comprehensive understanding for project planning in challenging contexts, be able to balance expectations and plan for realistic outcomes of their collaborative research projects.

Safer Research Communication – Handling Politically Sensitive Contexts and Contents, June 16, 2021 9 am-12 pm, June 17, 2021 2 pm-5 pm, online

The training is offered to members of the Berlin University Alliance partners, especially young researchers and project coordinators. The sessions will focus on physical and digital security, discussing how to protect interlocutors, communication and sensitive data. Furthermore, they will contain strategies for communicating research to a wider audience and how to mitigate a potential backlash. Program

The goal of the training is to support the submission of third-party funding proposals for scientists of the Berlin University Alliance working on the BCGE related topics.
