Transfer: Knowledge in Motion
In 2018, the Berlin University Alliance redefined the concept of transfer: Freie Universität Berlin, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, Technische Universität Berlin, and Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin understand knowledge transfer not as a one-dimensional process but as a dynamic, multidirectional exchange.

Impact through research intensity
The goal is to connect science, society, and business, and to foster innovation through transdisciplinary collaboration. Transfer means far more than the utilization of research results: it emerges through open dialogue, where scientific insights, societal perspectives, and entrepreneurial impulses converge. The humanities and social sciences also play a vital role, opening new pathways for resilient structures and societal innovation. With its dense research landscape, vibrant start-up scene, and initiatives such as UNITE, Science & Startups, and the innovate! lab, Berlin offers the ideal ecosystem in which ideas can grow – from concept to application.
