Social Cohesion
What defines social cohesion, and how do we renegotiate it in times of crisis, conflict, and profound change? These urgent questions shaped the fourth edition of Table.Forum Grand Challenges.
Sep 01, 2025
Social cohesion shapes our everyday lives – in schools, neighborhoods, online, and in the workplace – yet it is under increasing pressure. Global migration, inequality, crises, and cultural diversity raise fundamental questions: How much difference can a society embrace, and who belongs? What holds us together, and what dynamics emerge as we negotiate these boundaries together?
- Manuela Bojadžijev, Professor of Global Migration at the Institute for European Ethnology, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, and
- Stefan Jonsson, Director of the Institute for Research on Migration, Ethnicity and Society at Linköping University, Sweden,
explored these questions in conversation.
