Five Professors for Digitalization Research

In the 2018/19 winter semester, new professorships were established at the Einstein Center Digital Future (ECDF), a research center coordinated by the three alliance partners in cooperation with the Berlin University of the Arts.

Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, Technische Universität Berlin, and Beuth University of Applied Sciences Berlin started the new winter semester with five additional professorships at the Einstein Center Digital Future (ECDF). The ECDF is expanding its interdisciplinary portfolio with topics such as water supply in large cities, the effects of chats and blogs on learning processes, the interpretability of algorithms, and the energy consumption of electric vehicles.

Prof. Dr. Elisabeth Mayweg was appointed a professor of Digital Knowledge Management in Study and Teaching at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. Three new scientists started their work at Technische Universität Berlin: Prof. Dr. Andrea Cominola is the new professor of Smart Water Networks. Prof. Sangyoung Park, Ph.D., is the new professor of Development of Digitalized Traffic Technologies / Smart Mobility Systems. Prof. Dr. Tilo Schwalger holds the professorship in Data Assimilation in Neuroscience. Prof. Dr. Felix Biessmann is a professor of data science at Beuth University of Applied Sciences Berlin.

The Einstein Center Digital Future (ECDF) is an interdisciplinary project of Freie Universität Berlin, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, Technische Universität Berlin, Universität der Künste Berlin, and Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin. The Center for Digitization Research sees itself as a cross-university nucleus for researching and promoting digital structures in science, business, and society. The interdisciplinary project aims to create more links in the field of digitalization in Berlin, to try out new forms of cooperation, to concentrate on innovative interdisciplinary cutting-edge research, and to attract excellently trained young scientific talent to the German capital. The ECDF was approved by the Einstein Foundation Berlin on September 5, 2016.
