News from Oct 31, 2018

Freie Universität Berlin, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, Technische Universität Berlin, and Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin have joined the “Bündnis gegen Homophobie,” thus affirming their resolute opposition to any form of discrimination based on individual sexual orientation. Representatives from the universities and Charité will receive their membership certificates at the “Respektpreise” (Respect Prizes) award ceremony, presented by Dr. Dirk Behrendt, Berlin Senator for Justice, Consumer Protection and Anti-Discrimination, on November 2, 2018.

Universities are places of diversity. It is part of their self-image to safeguard equal opportunities and freedom from discrimination at all university levels and to stand up for both respectful interactions with one another as well as for individual liberties. There is no room for homophobia and transphobia at Charité and the three major universities in Berlin.

About the “Bündnis gegen Homophobie”

The Governing Mayor of Berlin, Michael Müller, is the patron of the Bündnis gegen Homophobie,” which currently has 120 members from the fields of culture, science, business, and sports.
