The “Forum junge Spitzenforscher” competition is being held for the first time in cooperation with the three major Berlin universities – Freie Universität, Humboldt-Universität, and Technische Universität – and Charité / Application Deadline: November 4

A new round of the “Forum Junge Spitzenforscher” competition is now underway. Early-career researchers from all disciplines can submit their application ideas. The competition is open to scholars from Freie Universität Berlin, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, Technische Universität Berlin, and Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin as well as any other research institution in Berlin, whether doctoral candidates or junior professors. This year’s theme is “Mobility”; the period for submitting applications ends on November 4. Six projects in total will be given the possibility to present their research on November 22, 2018. From these, the top three projects will each be awarded prize money of 10,000 euros.

The remaining participants will also receive 2,000 euros each for their pitches, so the organizers – Stiftung Industrieforschung and Humboldt-Innovation GmbH – will be awarding prize money of 36,000 euros in total. Furthermore, successful projects can also apply for continued funding to the amount of 50,000 euros from the Senate Department for Economics, Energy and Public Enterprises in Berlin.

For the first time, the competition is being organized in cooperation with Freie Universität Berlin, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, Technische Universität Berlin, and Charité – Universitätsmedizin. The “Forum junge Spitzenforscher” competition will be taking place for the fifth time.
