Water in transition

Sep 11, 2022 | 07:30 PM - 10:30 PM

Reading + panel discussion

Water pollution, drought, floods - what happens when these catastrophes reach our favorite swimming spots, our drinking water, our own cellars?

The new play "Das Wasser" (The Water) by Kathrin Röggla paints a picture of a society oscillating between torrential rain and intense heat, a society that every day comes closer to the growing precipices of overload. As part of the international literature festival berlin (ilb), prominent actors will recite Röggla's text, which draws attention to the role of water in current and future socio-ecological change. This will be followed by a public dialogue with the audience, the author and scientists from the Einstein Research Unit Climate and Water Under Change (CliWaC) on the explosive topic of water. By opening up the format, participants will not only be able to ask questions about the play, but will also have the opportunity to explore their own relationship and connection to water.

Tickets will be available beginning August 8. Language of the event is German.

The event is a production of the Theatre of the Anthropocene in cooperation with the international literature festival berlin (ilb) and the AnthropoScenes project and is funded by the Berlin University Alliance as part of the Excellence Strategy of the German federal and state governments.
