Population aging is a global phenomenon that affects both developing and industrialized countries. From social isolation and loneliness to economic impacts and pressure on healthcare systems, rising life expectancy and declining birth rates are creating a range of challenges that affect society as a whole. Addressing these challenges requires a comprehensive approach that includes government and health policy measures, social services, community initiatives, intergenerational cooperation, and technological innovations. As with all global challenges, a transnational approach that also includes the exchange of best practices is particularly promising.
This was discussed on the panel by State Secretary for Science and Research Dr. Henry Marx (Senate Department for Science, Health, and Care), Prof. Melinda Mills (University of Oxford), Diana Rothe (Berlin University of the Arts), Prof. Irene Tracey, PhD (University of Oxford), and Prof. Dr. Elke Schäffner (Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin).
