Berlin Universities Lead DAAD Funding Ranking
Technische Universität Berlin, Freie Universität Berlin, and Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin along with the joint medical school of the latter two, Charité Universitätsmedizin Berlin, hold the first three places in the 2016 Funding Ranking (Förderranking) of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).

According to the latest statistics of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), which show the total amounts its member universities received from the DAAD in 2016, Freie Universität Berlin received 9,503,240 euros (rank 1), Technische Universität Berlin 9,248,309 euros (rank 2), and Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin 8,773,024 euros (rank 3). With a total of roughly 27.5 million euros from all the various DAAD funding programs, the universities in Berlin, with their strong international networks, lead the German universities.
Each year the DAAD publishes evaluations for each of its member universities, so-called "funding balances" (Förderbilanzen). They contain information on the expenditures and those being supported by the DAAD.
