New Members in acatech
Professors from Freie Universität Berlin and Technische Universität Berlin have been appointed to the National Academy of Science and Engineering

Prof. Dr. Rainer Haag of Freie Universität Berlin and Prof. Dr.-Ing. Vera Meyer and Prof. Dr. Mike Schlaich of Technische Universität Berlin have been admitted to the National Academy of Science and Engineering (acatech). Prof. Ph.D. Anja Feldmann, an adjunct professor at Technische Universität Berlin, has also been elected as a new member.
The acatech members are admitted to the Academy because of their outstanding scientific achievements and their high reputation. They advise policymakers and society on questions of future engineering science and technology policy issues. In addition, acatech supports the transfer of knowledge between science and industry and promotes early-career technical scientists.
In 2004, Prof. Dr. Rainer Haag joined Freie Universität Berlin, where he holds a professorship in Organic and Macromolecular Chemistry. Since 2008, he has headed the Collaborative Research Center 765 “Multivalency as chemical organization and action principle.”
Biotechnologist Prof. Dr.-Ing. Vera Meyer heads the Department of Applied and Molecular Microbiology at Technische Universität Berlin.
Since 2004, Prof. Dr. sc. techn. Mike Schlaich has been holding a professorship in the field of Conceptual and Structural Design – solid construction at the Institute of Civil and Building Systems of Technische Universität Berlin. Together with other colleagues from the university, he also heads the Kompetenzzentrum Brückenbau there.
Prof. Anja Feldmann, Ph.D., is the director at the Max Planck Institute for Informatics in Saarbrücken. Until 2017, she was a professor of Internet Network Architectures at Technische Universität Berlin, where she is now an adjunct professor.
