Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin and Technische Universität zu Berlin are further expanding their cooperation into a strategic partnership. They are currently developing a joint campus for biotechnology and medical technology on Seestraße in Berlin’s Wedding district, where scientists will conduct research on pressing issues in oncology, immunology, and regenerative medicine. The aim is to interlink research topics from biotechnology and medicine. The new Simulated Human science center will be the core of the campus.
Using new technologies, such as tissue cultivation on chip systems or methods of 3D bioprinting, physicians will work side by side with scientists and engineers from various disciplines to simulate human model systems. Charité – the joint medical school of Freie Universität Berlin and Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin – and Technische Universität Berlin want to make an important contribution to establishing new diagnosis and therapy strategies and to finding alternatives to experiments on animals.
