WHAT CONNECTS US. An exhibition

Jul 01, 2026 | 06:00 PM - 09:00 PM

Climate change is affecting more than just our environment. It can shape our sense of belonging, to a place and to one another.

Even when we‘re surrounded by people, we can still feel lonely.

”What Connects Us” is a participatory pop-up exhibition that explores connection, belonging, and resilience in times of climate change. At its core are the outcomes of an intergenerational dialogue between older Berlin residents and young people with migration experiences. Through conversations, drawings, and written reflections, participants shared their experiences, perspectives, and ideas on topics such as climate change, loneliness, community, and social cohesion.

The exhibition would highlight how diverse life experiences are connected through shared challenges. It invites visitors to engage with personal stories and creative expressions, reflecting on what connects people and how strong, climate-resilient communities can be built.

The project was developed as part of the BUA Research Module “Social Connection in Times of Climate Change”, in which students explored the connections between climate change, social connectedness, and societal resilience, and collaboratively developed it.

The event is open to all.
