Migration, Borders, and Solidarity in Transatlantic Perspective. BUA DIGENet collaborating Book Presentation and Discussion

Apr 20, 2026 | 06:00 PM - 07:30 PM

At a time of political attacks on sanctuary policies and migrant communities on both sides of the Atlantic, the edited anthology Beyond Sanctuary: The Humanism of a World in Motion (Duke University Press, 2025) offers alternative visions of migrant justice that draw on the Black radical tradition, Indigenous studies, postcolonial thought, and critical refugee studies with an emphasis on Europe and the Americas.

On April 20 from 18:00-19:30h – hosted by BUA DIGENet and with opening remarks by Prof. Robin Celikates (FU Berlin) – the editors Prof. Ananya Roy (UCLA) and Dr. Veronika Zablotsky (FU Berlin) will present and discuss the book with critical migration scholars Prof. Manuela Bojadžjiev (HU Berlin) and Prof. Vanessa E. Thompson (Queen’s University) at Refugio Berlin (Lenaustr. 3, 12047 Berlin).

The panel will take place in English only. No registration required. It will be followed by an informal reception with light catering and drinks. Doors close by 21:00h.

The event is open for resaerchers, students and the broader public.
