“Debating the future of inclusive knowledge production with the Global South”

Feb 23, 2021 | 12:30 PM - 01:30 PM

Panel Discussion

The Berlin Center for Global Engagement (BCGE) is organizing a panel discussion as part of the Lunch-time Debates on the Future of Higher Education Internationalization: “Watersheds of Internationalization” at Freie Universität Berlin entitled “Debating the future of inclusive knowledge production with the 'Global South'”.

The fourth instalment in the event series “FUB Lunch-time Debates on the Future of Higher Education Internationalization” – in cooperation with the Berlin Center for Global Engagement (BCGE) affiliated with the Berlin University Alliance (BUA) – will focus on inclusive internationalization and knowledge production with researchers and practitioners from the “Global South” as well as others who engage with the “Global South” in their field of work. Fostering exchange and cooperating with researchers and universities who are working in politically and economically fragile contexts is more crucial than ever when it comes to tackling pressing challenges across the globe, such as climate change, looming political crises, and the current pandemic. However, establishing mutual exchange and cooperation between scholars and universities, while also ensuring that all parties involved are on equal footing can be challenging in practice. In the face of escalating political, economic, and social conflicts, what should our research priorities be? And who should set them? What might an inclusive research partnership that addresses these global challenges look like? How can universities create supportive and inspiring conditions to facilitate mutual exchange?
