“EXIST Startup Berlin” is the name of a proposal the Berlin University Alliance is submitting for funding within the new “EXIST-Potentials” program, as part of the EXIST Culture of Entrepreneurship of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy.
The shared vision of the four partners is to turn the start-up metropolis of Berlin into a leading European and globally visible ecosystem for research-based start-ups by 2030.
Berlin is already regarded as a major metropolis in the international start-up scene. Berlin leaders aim to utilize this locational advantage of the city, with its leading universities and its start-up culture to attract even more international knowledge-based companies. The “EXIST Startup Berlin” format is intended to make an important contribution to attracting international talent to the city and to prepare founders for entry to the international market.
Moreover, the Berlin University Alliance is committed to solving global challenges through entrepreneurship and is tapping into start-up potential based on cutting-edge research. The proposal aims to strengthen the collaborative structures over the long term and to make efficient use of university resources. The project would be implemented jointly by the university start-up centers: Profound Innovation at Freie Universität Berlin, Humboldt Innovation at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, and the Centre for Entrepreneurship at Technische Universität Berlin.
