This project explores how heritage speaker communities in Berlin organise and sustain their activities and develops ideas aimed at strengthening institutional support for migrant and diaspora languages. Building on findings from the X-Tutorial 'Metrolingualism in Berlin' (2022) and  interviews with heritage speakers and representatives of Berlin-based NGOs conducted in SoSe 2026, we will analyse existing support structures, examine national and international policy models, and design a framework that promotes linguistic inclusion. The group welcomes students interested in language policy, urban multilingualism, migration and questions of social justice. Speakers of heritage languages are especially welcome!
