Notification – Expression of Interest: Short-term flexible funding opportunities

For workshops and research activities in the framework of the OX|BER Research Partnership

The OX|BER Research Partnership aims to foster mobility and to help build stronger networks between the partner institutions. To that end, short-term funding will be awarded for various formats that support the establishment of new collaborations or the continuation and strengthening of existing collaborations and research projects.

The award is made following the recommendation of the Vice Academic Directors in Berlin and the members of the Oxford Academic Advisory Committee. The funds are intended to cover costs for travel, accommodation, the organization of workshops, minor services (such as translations) and comparable activities between October and December 2021.

To apply for flexible funding in the framework of the OX|BER Research Partnership, please send the completed application form (see under downloads) to oxber@berlin-university-alliance.de no later than September 24, 2021.

Please note that the funds will be managed by the central project coordination of the OX|BER Research Partnership at Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin. The funds will not be administered at your institution.


Please briefly address the following questions and aspects in your application.

  • Which concrete measures and projects will be carried out?
  • What goal is to be pursued (e.g., third-party funding, collaborative publications or fieldwork, supervision of students, etc.)?
  • What specific benefits do you expect from the activity for your own research area and the OX|BER research partnership?

How much funding can be applied for:

Up to 5,000 EUR can be budgeted for a workshop or project; travel and accommodation costs will be calculated based on federal travel expenses law.

Who is eligible to apply:

Professors of the Berlin University Alliance (BUA), post-docs and doctoral students of the BUA.

After reviewing the application, you will receive feedback from us by e-mail.

After the cooperation activities are completed, an informal short report has to be submitted. A corresponding form will be provided to you.
