The symposium addresses the pressing need for European universities to rethink and to re-imagine the way in which they engage globally, as the return of geopolitical tensions has ended the era of apparently ‘easy’ globalization and may be leading to a process of academic deglobalization. Participants and speakers will include the senior leadership from Oxford and Berlin, as well as leading experts from both cities and beyond. The sessions will explore issues surrounding Method, Modalities and Underlying Values; Thinking beyond Globalization; The Perils of Politicization; Experiences and Lessons; and The Transformative Power of Global Engagement.
